Abstract. In 2011–2017, we studied 11 varieties of spring barley under conditions of the southern forest-steppe of Western Siberia. The purpose of the study was to identify genotypes stable by the weight of 1000 grains under conditions of the Omsk region for use in agricultural production. The soil in the experimental plot was ordinary leached chernozem with a humus content of 6–7%. The experiment was repeated 4 times. The sowing rate was 4 million germinating grains per hectare. The area of the plots was 10 m2. The following indicators of adaptability were calculated: relative stability of the variety (B), ecological plasticity index (EPI); responsiveness coefficient (Cr); variety stability index (VSI); intensity index (I); stability index (SI). The most plastic varieties were Omsky 96, Omsky 90, Podarok Sibiri, Sasha, Sibirsky Avangard, Omsky 100 (EPI = 1.03–1.1). The highest adaptability was observed for Omsky Golozerny 2, Omsky 95, Podarok Sibiri, Sibirsky Avangard varieties (B = 86.4–89.6). The maximum responsiveness in the experiment was observed in Omsky 99, Omsky 96, and Omsky 100 (Cr = 1.64–1.8); a high level of intensity was observed in Omsky 99, Omsky 100, Omsky 96, and Omsky Golozerny 1 varieties (I = 43.2–55.9%). Omsky Golozerny 2, Omsky 95, Podarok Sibiri, Sibirsky Avangard, and Omsky Golozerny 1 stably formed large grain (SI = 50.5–94.1). High resistance to contrasting weather conditions of the Omsk region was registered in Omsky Golozerny 2, Sibirsky Avangard, Podarok Sibiri, Omsky 95 varieties (sum of ranks was 26.0 and 27.0).

Keywords: weight of 1000 grains; stability; plasticity; adaptability; uniformity.
