Abstract. The studies were carried out to determine the effectiveness of various systems for protecting apple trees from scab. The work was performed in the production plantations of Dubovoe, AO in 2015–2018. Research objects were plants of apple trees ‘Lobo’ and ‘Bogatyr’, differing in scab resistance (poorly resistant and relatively stable), on stock 54-118. Weather conditions over the years of the research influenced the degree of development of scab on leaves and fruits. The main damaging factors in 2016 and 2017, which weakened apple plants and increase the harmfulness of scab, were precipitation during the growing season, temperature drops, long periods of low temperatures and freezing. During these years, a high level of scab development on leaves and fruits in the control variant was noted. The development of scab on leaves and fruits of Lobo variety varied from 13.9% to 77.6%, of Bogatyr variety – from 29.2% to 67.3%. Weather conditions in 2015 and 2018 were less favourable for the development of diseases, as they had alternation of high and low temperatures, uneven precipitation. The development of scab in the control variant on the leaves and fruits of Lobo variety varied from 5.0% to 25.8%, of Bogatyr variety – from 3.5% to 21.5%. Over the years of the research with the use of protection systems, the development of scab on Lobo variety plants was higher than that of Bogatyr variety: 0.8–6.8% and 0.2–2.3%, respectively. Biological efficacy of protection against scab using domestic fungicides (Indigo, SC – 5.0 kg/ha; Kantor, CCS – 0.2 kg/ha; Medea, ME – 1.0 L/ha; Granny, SC – 1.0 L/ha) on leaves and fruits of Lobo variety was 84.0–94.1%, of Bogatyr variety – 93.4–97.6%.

Keywords: apple tree; scab development on leaves and fruits; protection systems; biological efficiency.
