INFLUENCE OF TILLAGE METHODS IN A CROP ROTATION ON MOISTURE DYNAMICS AND AGROPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF LEACHED CHERNOZEM

Abstract. The investigations were carried out in order to study the influence of various tillage methods on the water regime and agrophysical properties of leached chernozem under corn crops under conditions of the Krasnoyarsk forest-steppe. The work was carried out in a grain-fallow-row crop rotation in a field stationary experiment in the farm “Minderlinskoe”. The design of the experiment included the following options: moldboard ploughing at 20–22 cm (control); surface cultivation at 8–10 cm by a disc harrow; without tillage. The seasonal dynamics of available moisture reserves in a meter layer of soil was unequal. The density under corn crops does not exceed the optimal value (0.92–1.01 g/cm3). It was not revealed significant changes in soil density under corn crops between the studied varieties. In the case of no-till, the tendency of increasing the value of this parameter by 0.09 g/cm3 in comparison with the moldboard plowing was noted. The structural state of the leached chernozem in all investigated layers was good. The content of agronomically valuable aggregates in the upper soil layer (0–10 cm) changed from 65.2 to 70.7% at different methods of tillage. The minimum amount of a blocky fraction (more than 10 mm) was typical for the variant with moldboard plowing. The refusal to conduct the moldboard treatment led to a reduction in the number of aggregates with the size less than 0.25 mm.
