Summary. The studies were carried out in order to determine causal relationships between the main indicators of efficiency of soybean production in Amur region (cost price, profit and profitability) and factors defining them (crop yield, price, production expenses, the level of government support, sown area and a number of employees). As a result of the paired correlation analysis, it was found, that the closest relations are between cost price and production expenses (r = 0.62), cost price and sell price (r = 0.63) as well as between profit and sell price (r = 0.61). Significant relationships between profitability and independent factors were not identified. It was also found, that the efficiency indicators of soybean production had a moderate relationship with crop yield. The level of profit of soybean cultivation sector has a strong and direct connection with the selling price (beta is 1.16) and crop yield (beta is 0.83), a strong inverse connection with the production expenses (beta is minus 0.97) and a weak inverse connection with the number of employees. Analysis of the impact of crop yield on the level of costs identified a strong dependence (r = 0.701) and allowed to determine, that the fixed (normal) costs associated with soybean production are equal 7727.90 rubles per 1 ha, and in order to produce each ton of soybean it is additionally required the resources in the amount of 7727.90·e0.4116x-7727.90 rubles. The break-even crop yield level of soybean production is equal to 0.67 t/ha. Based on the revealed dependence the calculations were made, showing the feasibility of investment in soybean production in the southern agro-climatic zone of Amur region; production profitability of which, at given levels of resource consumption, increased from 29.2% with a crop yield of 1 t/ha to 74.2% with a crop yield of 2.4 t/ha.
