Summary. Currently existing system of utilization of exhaust gas heat directed on its transformation into another kind of energy, accompanied by a decrease in the efficiency of the adopted measures due to the low efficiency factor of the offered tools. Developed tools, which use the exhaust gas heat for heating the aggregates and systems of machines, have a low ability to heat recuperation, which affects their performance in general. To improve the efficiency of thermal preparation of aggregates and vehicle systems through the use of exhaust gas heat the development of recuperator with high thermal performance becomes urgent and practically significant. It should be able to solve such technical problem when the engine is idling. Studies were carried out to develop a recuperator and to determine experimentally its capacity under conditions of low temperature and speed of exhaust gases. On the truck KAMAZ-5320 a test unit was installed, including the proposed silencer-recuperator, made on the basis of the standard muffler of cars of this brand, liquid pump and an expansion tank, interconnected through pipelines. The experimental setup was filled with coolant antifreeze brand A40. Measuring equipment included temperature sensors TP.HК(L)-K11 the second class of tolerance according to GOST 6616-94 and DTS 034-50M B-class of tolerance according to GOST 6651-2009 to record the temperature of the exhaust gas and intermediate heat-transfer agent, respectively. For automatic registration of temperature it was used a personal computer (PC) and software to implement PC communication with instruments of research and production company “OWEN”. The speed of movement of exhaust gases was measured by thermo-anemometer DT-8894. Obtained experimental results confirm the efficiency of the developed silencer-recuperator; the maximum capacity is 6900 Watts when the engine is idling.
Keywords: muffler-recuperator, temperature of exhaust gas, intermediate heat-transfer agent, temperature difference.
